International Meeting on Functional Grain

[10 May 09] on 11 May, a two-day international technical meeting on the details of the special characteristics of grain in human nutrition will take place at the Institut für Getreideverarbeitung in Nuthetal. It will deal with the contents of grain and their technical function for the production of foodstuffs, the effect of grain on health and communication of health-facilitating effective substances in grain to the consumer.
Grain plays a substantial role in human nutrition around the globe. Being able to ensure that this valuable food remains available in future, using it in the best possible manner and taking it to the consumer in a quality-oriented way in the shape of different foodstuffs will be topics for discussions among more than 120 participants from 12 countries and 4 continents.
Brandenburg companies such as mills, bakeries, bakery basic materials manufacturer and long-life bakery producers, as well as Brandenburg scientific institutions such as the Deutsche Institut für Ernährungsforschung and the Institut für Lebensmittel- und Umweltforschung also participate in this technical event in the well-known Institut für Getreideverarbeitung.
They are specially supported by the Branchentransferstelle Ernährungswirtschaft, which initiates and supports projects between companies and science.
